Strong Showing

The 2019 SculptureTucson Festival Show & Sale saw strong sales and attendance.

In April, the nonprofit organization SculptureTucson, in Tucson, Arizona, hosted its second SculptureTucson Festival Show & Sale at the Brandi Fenton Memorial Park. The event, which was created as a way to promote sculptors from around the country and support the public arts, kicked off on April 5 with a preview of the show that included more than 60 artists exhibiting their three-dimensional pieces. The show was then open to the public April 6 and 7.The central corridor of SculptureTucson Festival Show & Sale.

Throughout the weekend approximately 5,000 patrons visited the park and purchased an estimated $150,000 in art. This included everything from glass to ceramics to metal pieces that ranged in size from tabletop to monumental, allowing for collectors to purchase for their needs. As part of the 2019 event, SculptureTucson offered a Purchase Award. This year, the organization selected pieces by Hector Ortega and Gary Anderson to become public art in Tucson.A sculpture by Gerald Rockwell.

Work by Terrol Dew Johnson was included in the festival.

Along with viewing the exhibits of artwork, visitors had the chance to attend a number of other art-related showcases including 16 artist talks, 10 musical acts, a dance troupe performance and six poetry readings.

The third annual SculptureTucson Festival Show & Sale will take place April 3 to 5, 2020. —
