For the past 22 years, the Boston International Fine Art Show has been one of the mainstay fairs for modern, contemporary and historic works of art. Every year, thousands of visitors head through the doors of The Cyclorama at Boston Center for the Arts to view exhibitions curated by 40 galleries from the United States and Europe. This year’s show, held October 24 to 27, adds the contemporary art section “Emerge,” dedicated to individual artists and galleries specializing in emerging and mid-career artists.
The 23rd annual Boston International Fine Art Show returns to The Cyclorama.
Leading the Emerge section is Principle Gallery, which has locations in Alexandria, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina, with work by artists such as Michele Kortbawi Wilk and Kim VanDerHoek on display. Edgewater Gallery also will exhibit in the section with pieces from still life artists Kim Alemian and Karen O’Neil among its highlights. Individual artists selected to participate are Anna Thurber, Eveline Luppi, Scott J. Morgan, Patricia Busso, Fabiana Walsh and Michael J. Murray.

As part of the main fair will be exhibitions from Avery Galleries, Bowersock Gallery, Martha Richardson Fine Art, Miller White Fine Arts, Questroyal Fine Art, Renjeau Galleries and Thomas Darsney Fine Art.
To kick off the festivities is the annual gala preview on October 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. VIP sneak preview ticketholders are given access at 5:30 p.m. to be among the first to view the show and purchase works, while an hour later, at 6:30 p.m., the preview party begins. Throughout the opening, visitors can interact with the exhibitors to learn more about the pieces on display in a lively atmosphere that includes food, wine and live music.

Along with the artwork on view, Boston International Fine Art Show presents a slate of special programs throughout the weekend, including an annual talk from American Art Collector editor Joshua Rose. This year, on Friday, October 25, will be a full day of programing dedicated to the Emerge section.
BIFAS will be open October 25 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; October 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and October 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door or in advanced, with children under the age of 12 admitted for free with parent or guardian. —
