The beauty of the southeastern coastline takes the spotlight during the ninth annual Plein Air Festival, hosted by the nonprofit Lighthouse ArtCenter. The weeklong event sees 30 award-winning plein air artists from across the country come together to capture seaside charm in Tequesta, Florida, along with artist demonstrations, workshops and other events.

The festival kicks off with the Paint Out Competition held at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. From March 28 to 31, participating artists will hold free, live demonstrations in some of the most beautiful parts of Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Among these demonstration artists are Natalia Andreeva, who will be painting at the Juno Beach Pier on March 29 with a focus on mixing color and choosing a subject, as well as Mary Hertler Tallman, who is demonstrating her use of pastels to capture light and shadow in DuBois Park on March 30. On April 1 is the Collector’s Party at the Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery. The festival events conclude on April 2 with an art sale and the Battle of the Brushes live painting competition, held at the gallery. An awards ceremony will take place as well.

“The Plein Air Festival celebrates our local landscapes and landmarks,” says Nancy Politsch, Lighthouse ArtCenter CEO. “These participating artists are known to be the best of the best in their art form, and they are here to capture our community through their painting.”
Works of art created during the Plein Air Festival will be displayed throughout the week and will be available to purchase at the gallery. —
