Multiple Acquisitions
In November, Vanessa Rothe Fine Art in Laguna Beach, California, hosted its Americans in Paris exhibition with the theme of Art Nouveau. The show, which we featured as a preview in the November 2021 issue, caught the attention of many collectors and led to two standout sales for artists Pavel Sokov and Kyle Stuckey.
Alphonse Mucha“When we decided on our theme for this year’s Americans in Paris show of Art Nouveau, I remembered seeing this amazing vintage photograph of the painter Alphonse Mucha and thought what an amazing job artist Pavel Sokov would do with it,” says Vanessa Rothe. “Pavel indeed created such an incredible work of art depicting the art nouveau artist with his work, that I felt it should be included in a grander collection.”
Rothe then contacted Kara Ross and the Art Renewal Center, who have been supporters of the Americans in Paris exhibitions from the start, to let them know about Sokov’s painting, aptly titled Alphonse Mucha. “They had long admired Sokov’s work but had not found the perfect subject for their collection, until now,” Rothe says. “We are honored to have encouraged the sale of this stunning work of art, now included in one of the top collections in America.”
Dining in Paris
Stuckey’s beautiful street scene Dining in Paris from the exhibition was acquired by Laguna Beach collectors. Rothe says, “The clients, who had not been able to travel and celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary in Paris due to COVID, purchased the work together with a promise to each other to meet at this restaurant as soon as they were able to travel again. The work will take a prominent position in their living room collection.” —
