Conservation, watercolor on paper, 16 x 32"In her watercolor May Contain Pits are three jars filled with bright red cherries set against a deep black backdrop. She says that after feeling drawn to paint back lit cherries for years, she finally acted on the inclination during the pandemic. “I have heard the phrase ‘life is a bowl of cherries’ my whole life so I felt it was so funny to see these jars of cherries with the words ‘May Contain Pits’ written prominently across their golden lids,” says Waller. “I just thought what a perfect analogy to any situation but it felt so fitting during the trying times that we were all experiencing. Life may be a bowl of cherries but watch out for those pits.”Scintillation, watercolor on paper, 28 x 20½"Another piece, Scintillation, depicts the classic Ball Mason jar filled with glowing lights in shades of bright butterscotch. “Hot summer nights in the Midwest catching lightning bugs in Ball jars was the inspiration behind Scintillation. These nights are some of my fondest memories,” the artist reflects. “I wanted to capture the childhood magic of filling a jar full of lightning bugs and watching their tail ends create a beautiful light show.”Ikigai, watercolor on paper, 20 x 30"
