Aixa Oliveras: Resilience

A spotlight on contemporary realist works of art.

Aixa Oliveras’ painting Resilience is a personal piece for the artist. She explains, “[It] is inspired by the process of healing that I experienced in my move from Puerto Rico to California, with the botanical pattern of the nightshade flower symbolizing fear and threat and the angel tattoo on the woman’s back acting a symbol for inner strength.” The painting appears in the 33 Contemporary Gallery exhibition The Art of the Nude, which features art from the PoetsArtists community.  Resilience (detail), oil on linen, 24 x 30"
