The Steeplechase ride on Coney Island is an iconic symbol of the early days of Coney Island Amusement Park. This ride is still in operation and rides the original rails.

I took a group of 22 students and adults to Turkey and Greece in 2013 to study ancient theatres. This watercolor is from one of my photographs of Ephesus near the city of Selcuk in the central Aegean region of Turkey. The theatre was excavated in the 1860’s and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Painted on Arches 140 #rough paper.

When I was in Phoenix and Sedona, Arizona in 2007, I took several side trips to explore this beautiful part of the country. Jerome, Arizona is a small copper mining town west of Sedona that has turned into an artists community. This building facade is precariously standing on the east edge of town, “open” for business. This painting was part of a joint exhibition at the Berlitz Language Art Gallery in Rockefeller Center, April 2012. The photographs were taken by a friend that had visited Israel. I wanted to determine if I could paint from someone else’s photographs. The exhibit was very well received.
