Bar Talk
Jill Banks
Oil on linen panel
12 x 16 inches (L x W)
Bar Talk was painted during Telluride Plein Air 2026 inside the Floradora Saloon. Husband Randy and I had a well-deserved sitdown relaxed lunch there after I'd finished up painting Colorado Colors that morning. I've painted in Floradora before -- and asked for permission again. Pretty obviously, the answer was "Yes."
I love the place -- all its patina and that glorious light that pours through the windows, contrasted with the silhouettes of the people there to enjoy their own respite in the day.
I did make some changes outside on a sidewalk in Telluride to make it match what I saw that day. When the lighting is iffy for painting, some corrections are needed.
$2050 - framed and ready to hang. Includes complimentary shipping in the Continental US. Find this piece in the Western/Telluride Collection on my website.
Colorado Colors
Jill Banks
Oil on linen
24 x 24 x 1 inches (L x W x D)
Colorado Colors, oil on linen, 24 x 24 in. (canvas size) - painted from life on location during Telluride Plein Air 2026. During this year's Telluride Plein Air, I painted 18 pieces and sold 14 -- with this one still available while typing this. Shipping back home to Virginia was definitely easier than usual -- and I hand-carried this one, still a little wet, on the flights back home and layover in the Denver airport. Free shipping in the Continental US. $5450 - includes frame and free shipping in the Continental US

If Boats Could Talk
Jill Banks
Oil on linen
30 x 30 x 1 inches (L x W x D)
"If Boats Could Talk" was awarded Third Prize at Plein Air Easton 2026 by Mary Morton, curator of French Paintings at the National Gallery of Art.
I painted it over two days at the Chesapeake Maritime Museum. in St. Michael's MD. I loved the extreme contrast of darks and lights -- and was intrigued by the history, the stories to be told of the boats' adventures. The string lights in the rafters were another draw. I love them!
$7650 - framed. Complimentary shipping in the Continental US. Taxes additional. Find this piece in the Landscapes and Interiors Collection of my website for purchasing info.
More Flower Power
Jill Banks
Oil on linen
30 x 24 x 1 inches (L x W x D)
This piece just recently returned to my easel for the third time -- and I swear it is now finished. It is loosely based on a flower seller at the Campo dei Fiori market in Rome. Now the flowers reflect all the (many!) flower markets I've captured on location over the years. $6250 includes frame and complimentary shipping in the Continental US.
Parisian Passages
Jill Banks
Oil on linen
36 x 24 x 1 inches (L x W x D)
Coming back from my painting trip in Paris, there were many pieces dancing around in my head -- still waiting to be captured. Some are variations of scenes captured plein air -- larger, different composition, different light, or just one I saw out of the corner of my eye that was calling my name.
A smaller version of this piece was painted plein air -- and I absolutely loved the whole concept on site. I had been on my trek to a spot in Saint Germain when this scene crossed my path. That was it. Change plans. Paint it.
The people in the scene are different but this larger painting holds true to the energy, contrast, vibrancy of that plein air piece.
This painting will be on exhibit in September at Ballard's Fine Art in Sheridan Wyoming as part of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Best of America International Juried Exhibition. See my Events Page on the website for more info on the show. The piece is $7350. Shipping is additional. Sales are through the gallery but I am happy to help.
Purple in Provence
Jill Banks
Oil on linen panel
18 x 24 inches (L x W)
Purple in Provence, oil on linen panel, 18 x 24 in. (canvas size) -- painted plein air in Valensole, France this past June. I took my personal painting trip to the South of France early this year -- the only time available between plein air competitions that the lavender could potentially be in bloom. My earlier visit than in other years meant I almost had the fields to myself (vs. full of busloads of admirers). When I would have normally visited (early to mid-July), this year the fields were already harvested. Serendipity follows me around. Regularly. $4500

The Yard Party, oil on linen panel, 24 x 18 in. (canvas size), painted from life on a farm during Plein Air Easton 2026. Zoofari
Jill Banks
Oil on linen panel
16 x 20 inches (L x W)
Zoofari, oil on linen panel, 16 x 20 in. (canvas size) -- painted plein air at the Knoxville Zoo during the Artists on Location plein air competition. There is something extraordinarily special about standing in one place for hours watching life unfold right before your eyes. This carousel is joyous. I can hear the giggles, music and conversations all around. The biggest challenge with this piece was that the ride never stopped in the same place so I was spending my time with my neck on a swivel trying to visually capture what animal followed the other. $3350 - framed and free shipping in the Continental US. This piece is in the Landscapes and Interiors Collection.
