There is something about icebergs which captures the imagination. Maybe because most of us don't see them everyday. Found in remote polar regions, ‘bergs have an indefinable beauty. An artist's dream with the myriad of colors used to paint them. And of course, because of the Titanic, they also hold a mysterious danger. $1350 including custom framing

Dry Docked

Oil

It seems there are almost as many buoy shapes as our imagination will allow. One shake building on Martha’s Vineyard had obviously been collecting them for a long time. While working on this piece it was hard for me to choose my favorite. $4500. including custom framing.

The largest member of the cat family, the tiger’s biggest subspecies is the Amur (formally called the Siberian) which can achieve lengths of 10.5 feet from tip to tail. Often one thinks of tigers in the jungles of India but the Amur roams the remote boreal forests of northeastern China and eastern Russia. $5200 including custom framing

The North Island Kaka in New Zealand is a wonderful parrot. I had a chance to see them in the woods on the North Island. While their feathers may seem dull at first glance, when they lift their wings, a fiery red/orange array of feathers dazzles the eye. $4500 including custom framing

In Pursuit

Linda Besse

Is there a single moment which captures the speed and agility of the fastest land animal on earth? Not sure there is, but it was fun to paint this cheetah making a change in direction to pursue his prey. $10500 including custom framing

Ocean Feast

Ocean Feast

Linda Besse
Oil
14.5 x 47 inches (L x W)
In this painting, I wanted to capture the excitement of an ocean feast. The seagulls are feeding on the bait fish. The bait fish are surfacing to escape the salmon underneath them. The orcas are swimming to the commotion to feed on the salmon. And me, well, I pull in my fishing lines and sacrifice a salmon dinner to watch. $6000 including custom framing

Along Martha’s Vineyard south shore and up through Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge are nesting terns. These two are common terns which were almost completely wiped out by plume hunters in the early 1900s. They became fully protected in 1913. $3700 including custom framing

Sandhill Spring Migration

Sandhill Spring Migration

Linda Besse
Oil
16 x 24 inches (L x W)
Most of the time it is the animal which inspires me to paint a particular piece. Near the Platte River in Nebraska I was inspired by the color play of shadowed snow against the brilliant spent corn fields. Having sandhill cranes there was icing on the cake. $3750 including custom framing

Snowfall

Snowfall

Linda Besse
Oil

When heavily-laden snow bends our tree boughs and then the sun comes out, there are few more breathtaking sights. Though we have had moose on our property, I did use a tad of artistic license to place him in just the right spot. $11000 including custom framing

For our lunch break, our guide pulled us next to a large kopje in the Serengeti. We weren’t the only ones watching the lions, as among the rocks were five helmeted guineafowl. $2900 including custom framing

Summer Gold

Summer Gold

Linda Besse
Oil
24 x 17 inches (L x W)
It was about an hour after the solar eclipse in 2017. We had had the perfect viewing spot, isolated on top of a hill with no people or buildings in sight. I was thinking of little else until we drove past some wild sunflowers on the small dirt road. When we got to the second or third grouping, I had to stop and grab some photos. The big surprise is that there were goldfinch flitting among the flowers. What a perfect setting for my favorite bird! $3850 including custom framing
