In this painting, I wanted to capture the excitement of an ocean feast. The seagulls are feeding on the bait fish. The bait fish are surfacing to escape the salmon underneath them. It took a couple of seconds before I saw a pair of lionesses on a large rock and a single lioness sleeping in the shade. It was about an hour after the solar eclipse in 2017. We had had the perfect viewing spot, isolated on top of a hill with no people or buildings in sight. I was thinking of little else until we drove past some wild sunflowers on the small dirt road. When we got to the second or third grouping, I had to stop and grab some photos. The big surprise is that there were goldfinch flitting among the flowers. What a perfect setting for my favorite bird! $3850 including custom framing
