Highlights of the sales and connections achieved from the pages of American Art Collector

George Billis Gallery sells multiple pieces by Carrie Di Costanzo to California collector
When George Billis received a new body of work by Carrie Di Costanzo, the subject of a show preview in the July issue of American Art Collector, he called up a client on the West Coast who he knew would love the work. “George contacted me directly, knowing of my ‘pear thing,’” says the Oakland, California-based collector. “I found this painting interesting for a few reasons. The composition is unlike any others in my pear collection, as one of the pears is leaning into the other pear, being supported. Pears' colors are very congruent,” she continues. “I appreciate the powdery finish of the piece and I must admit the egg tempera medium was a consideration as well.”

Natalie Hirschman, Light Through the Leaves, oil on linen, 23½ x 31½ in. Courtesy Principle Gallery, Charleston, SC.

A painting by Natalie Hirschman is one of many sales in IGOR’s Annual Juried Exhibition
Light Through the Leaves by Natalie Hirschman was part of the International Guild of Realism’s 20th Annual Juried Exhibition, which received robust coverage in the June issue of American Art Collector, and was hosted by Principle Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. Hirschman’s piece was selected as the recipient of International Artist magazine’s (American Art Collector’s sister title) Editor’s Choice Award. The piece was purchased by an international client from the show’s digital catalog on the website.

Light Through the Leaves allows the viewer to enjoy a combination of loose brushwork in the background coupled with a more refined figure as a focal point,” says Principle Gallery assistant director Carson Reeder. “The sun shining through the leaves onto the figure creates a dreamlike quality within the piece.”  —
