From April 9 through 12, Portrait Society of America returns to Atlanta to host the 28th annual Art of the Portraitconference, an immersive event that brings together leading painters and sculptors, aspiring talent, collectors and art suppliers for several days of inspiring workshops, demonstrations and insightful panel discussions.

Shane Wolf and Robert Liberace offered a unique artistic experience as they simultaneously portrayed the same nude figure at a past Art of the Portrait Conference.
The 2026 faculty features 28 nationally recognized and award-winning artists, including Mary Whyte, Frances Bell, Quang Ho, Jeremy Lipking, Ali Cavanaugh, Susan Lyon, Michael Shane Neal, Casey Childs, Jeff Hein, Daniel Keys, Chelsea Lang, Stephanie Paige Thomson, Shane Wolf, Zhaoming Wu and others.

Chu Thăng, Portrait of Bao Tran, mixed media on panel, 16 x 12½ in.
A highlight of the conference—and one that is free and open to the public—is the exhibition of the top 19 finalists in the prestigious International Portrait Competition, to be judged on site. More than $172,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, including the $50,000 Draper Grand Prize. Winners will be announced during the Awards Banquet and Gala on Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.

Rose Frantzen, Last Light, oil, 52 x 44 in.
