Artist Focus: Daria Penionzhkevich Dega

Daria Penionzhkevich Dega’s (Dary Dega) artistic practice is rooted in the belief that art should be felt, not just seen. With a background in neuroscience and medicine, her work is deeply informed by how perception, emotion and cognition shape human experience. “I work across painting, portraiture, immersive environments and ceramic art, exploring both digital and tactile forms of expression,” she says. “Light, spatial rhythm and material presence function as narrative tools, transforming each piece into an experiential encounter rather than a static object.”

This interdisciplinary perspective extends into Dega’s work as an artist and cultural leader. “As the founder and director of DEGALLERY, I have built a platform centered on accessibility, experimentation and creative exchange,” she explains. “DEGALLERY’s mission is to cultivate inclusive cultural experiences while supporting artists and engaging diverse audiences. Through projects such as ARTuMENTAL Reality, I design interactive exhibition formats that activate portrait collections using digital layers, participatory design and storytelling, offering audiences new ways to connect emotionally, intellectually and physically with visual culture.”
