Bubbles

The Mystic

Artist Alayne Sahar sells a painting that has been to the moon and back
Figurative watercolorist Alayne Sahar recently sold The Mystic to a private collector. The painting was exhibited at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art as part of their 2021 International Biennial Portrait Competition and is part of NASA’s Lunar Codex Polaris Collection.

“I was discussing the Lunar Codex Project with a private art collector,” says Sahar. “He was intrigued by this concept of sending the work of 30,000 contemporary artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers from 137 countries, in four time capsules launched to the moon. He wanted to own a painting that was part and parcel of such a historic moment in time.”

The Mystic evokes a sense of spirituality and mystery,” says the buyer. “The gilding accentuates this feeling by adding a subtle aura around the figure.”

Sahar says, “In my opinion, this collector has the vision to acquire a painting that will forever symbolize the premier journey of sending the arts out into the cosmos to document the world in the 21st century as seen through the lens of artists for future generations.”

Sahar’s piece Bubbles was recently on display at Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art as part of Painting the Figure Now 2022, an exhibition featured in American Art Collector’s July issue. Sahar is represented by D Anthony Gallery in Wausau, Wisconsin, and has paintings available through Chicago’s 33 Contemporary Gallery at www.artsy.net.

Artist sells three works at the opening reception of a show previewed in American Art Collector
Janis Sanders sold three works at the opening reception of an exhibition at Maine Art Hill that was previewed in the September issue of American Art Collector.

“Natalie Lane, the gallery manager at Maine Art Hill, told me about the immediate sale of three works to a woman from Forest Hill, Illinois, who eagerly awaited my show during the past several weeks, and had been in touch with the gallery nearly two dozen times since the September editorial in American Art Collector, to be the first in line when the show opened on September 10,” shares Sanders.

“I am delighted at the results of my ad in July and the editorial coverage of my show in the September issue,” Sanders continues. “A reader of American Art Collector from Canada contacted me in late July to purchase the featured painting but it had recently sold. I painted a new version, which he loves, and shipped it to him in Ontario. He received it safe and sound last week.”  —
