Wilder Nightingale Fine Art in Taos, New Mexico, hosts this year’s edition of the American Impressionist Society’s annual Impressions Small Works Showcase. The exhibition will feature 172 paintings created by some of the top, award-winning artists working today, including Master AIS members and artists accepted into an AIS exhibition for the very first time. “I’m delighted to gather in Taos and to be inspired by our members who will make the trek to learn from each other,” says Liz Ahrens, American Impressionist Society executive director. “The creative energy that is produced when we spend time in the company of our long time friends and new acquaintances stays with us long after we part ways.”
The 2021 AIS Small Works Paint Out.An opening reception, which includes a Wet Wall Show is set to take place on Saturday, May 14, with more than $15,000 in prizes and awards. Awards judge James Richards from Cornelia, Georgia, will teach a two-day workshop on location at the Nicolai Fechin studio at the Taos Art Museum as well as a demo and critique.
Camille Przewodek, Girl in Green Shawl, oil, 14 x 11"“Our opening week for the AIS Small Works Showcase offers opportunities for both the public and our members to enjoy their visit to Taos. The exhibition, painting demo and Wet Wall is a great chance to meet artists and purchase work created on site during May 10 to 14,” Ahrens adds. “Our members are invited to paint on location in the studios and property of some wonderful AIS artists who reside in Taos. Private museum tours, critiques and panel discussion are also on the AIS agenda for our members–and all events are free.”
All artwork is available for purchase and can be viewed on the AIS website. The exhibition will be on view through June 19. —
