Through May 15, Vanessa Rothe Fine Art will welcome spring with a group exhibition that celebrates the beauty of the season. On view in the Spring Collection will be figures, seascapes, birds, interiors and more that have hints of reawakening and rejuvenation. Artists contributing to the show include gallery owner Vanessa Rothe, Nicolas Martin, Sam Robertson, Derek Penix, Adrian Gottlieb, Adrienne Stein, John Cosby, Ray Roberts, Jesse Powell, Kyle Stuckey and more.Jesse Powell, Monterey Lupine, oil on canvas, 14 x 20"

C.W. Mundy has painted a beautiful view of the California coast in his painting Ocean Spray. The work features a blast of water that makes the viewer feel as though they may get wet from the waves crashing along the rocks. Describing the inspiration behind the painting, Mundy says, “Having lived in California and traveling up and down the coast, I experienced the explosive power and sound of the thundering surf!”Derek Penix, Flight, oil on linen on board, 16 x 20"

Alex Tabet, Shades of Gold, oil on linen on board, 16 x 12"

An artist who is brand new to the gallery is Alex Tabet, whose figurative painting Shades of Gold shows off a detailed realistic style. The work was inspired by the artist’s friend Danielle, who posed for the artist. It captures a shared creative energy and freedom of working together. “Dressed in gold, a mysterious woman eyes the viewer with an empowered yet vulnerable stare,” says Tabet. “The golden shades of her hair and dress take on a jewel-like quality, symbolizing the eternal beauty of femininity.”C.W. In his painting Flight, Penix combines realism and impressionism to create a scene that is full of life. “You can almost feel the movement of the birds in the air, or the wind sweeping by carrying the seagulls up,” explains Rothe. “Derek’s style lends itself to this with the use of visible brushwork and soft edges, combining color harmony and the birds’ whites including blues from the sea.” —
