Sculptural Wonderland

The 37th annual Sculpture in the Park show and sale takes place August 7 and 8

Considered to be among the largest outdoor juried art shows and sales in the country, the yearly Sculpture in the Park showcases three-dimensional works of art from 160 artists across the world. On Friday, August 6, is the Patron Party from 3 to 8 p.m., which has a limited number of paid tickets available to the public, while Saturday, August 7, and Sunday, August 8, the show is open to the general public from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., respectively. “We are very much looking forward to hosting Sculpture in the Park 2021,” says Kristi Elyce, executive director of Loveland High Plains Arts Council. “Our goal is to make it a fun and safe event for our valued patrons, creative artists and dedicated volunteers.”

Graves’ work is “about motion and emotion,” says the artist. Her unique bronzes capture viewers’ attention with an intricate balance of positive and negative spaces. The shadows created from this work add to the overall quality of movement. She sculpts domestic animals and wildlife, depicting the joy and curiosity of those we share this planet with.Yenny Cocq, The Two of Us, bronze on steel, 56"

Cocq is an international artist and sculptor. She was born in Germany and spent many years in Denmark where she owned a gallery in Copenhagen. Her current residence and studio is in the art haven of Santa Fe, New Mexico. “My artistic expression and challenge is to refine the human figure to basic and almost geometric forms. I love to use simple body postures and language to portray an emotional idea or story. All of my bronze works are an expression of human emotion and connectedness,” she says.Sandy Graves, Bronc, bronze, 16 x 9½ x 4"

The 2021 Sculpture in the Park show and sale will offer collectors and art lovers the chance to explore and purchase more than 2,000 sculptures. —
