Mary Chiaramonte grew up on a farm in West Virginia with no TV or other distractions and instead relied on her imagination and observation of the world to entertain her. This has permeated into her paintings, which through figures “offers a provocative daydream, communicating both the human disposition and the mysteries therein.” In 2018 she began working on pieces that “mimic the idea of double exposures in photography,” such as one of her newest iterations, Our Very Own Secret Hideout.
