As winter gets underway in Chicago, Lotton Gallery hosts its annual Holiday Show featuring new works by its international roster of artists. The pieces include still lifes, figurative pieces and cityscapes that highlight each individual’s worldly points of view. Included will be pieces from Yana Movchan, Dmitri Danish and Tang Wei Min, to name a few.

Danish will present his newest painting Walk in the Rain, a 20-by-12 inch canvas that depicts an umbrella-holding figure strolling through a quaint Italian city. For the artist, the scene incited peace and tranquility, relaxation and leisure. “Quiet autumn rain always rings me to the lyrical mood,” shares the artist. “The state of the city after the rain inspires saturation of color and humidity. The city breathes in a different way.”
In his most recent series of painting, Chinese artist Wei Min focuses on the Longshan girls, who live in “Dragon Mountain,” which is part of the Hunan Province in China. “It is one of the oldest regions of the Yellow River population, known from the third century for its wonderful pottery,” he explains. “It is also known for smart and resourceful women, and young, brave and handsome Chinese men loved to choose brides in this region.”

In all, the Holiday Show, which runs throughout the month of December, will feature around two dozen paintings.
