Collector's Focus: Nocturnes

November 2027 Issue Special Feature

As we head into the shorter days of winter, it is the perfect timing to bring you our Collector’s Focus: Nocturnes, a special section that celebrates scenes of the night. Nighttime paintings, have strong roots in Western art but the term “nocturne” was actually popularized by James McNeill Whistler in the late 19th century to describe his moody, atmospheric paintings. Today a growing number of contemporary realists are creating nocturnal scenes. Whether painted in plein air under moonlight, staged in the studio under professional lighting, or is a depiction of a dimly-lit interior space or shadowy street scene, nocturnes have a mysterious, enigmatic quality to them that collectors are drawn to. Book your ad today to share your night scenes with collectors nationwide alongside other leading artists creating nocturnes and the galleries who represent them. Book your ad today!
