A Principle Gallery sale is truly a Hallmark moment
Several months ago a company reached out to Principle Gallery Charleston to inquire about using Steven S. Walker’s painting Early Debut as the image for their Thanksgiving greeting card. “They were interested in using the piece by Steven for this year’s card, and were interested in acquiring the piece for their private collection as well,” explains assistant gallery director Carson Reeder. “We worked with Steven and they purchased the painting and are getting ready to use it on their card!” About the painting, Reeder adds, “Early Debut leads you into a scene of the changing of seasons. Some trees are beginning to go bare, some are still full but shifting into a warmer hue, and some still green and full. Steven plays with this color shift to draw the viewer’s eye around the piece, down to the delicately placed pink spots in the foreground, guiding the eye across the picture plane.”+++

Painting featured in coverage of OPA’s National Salon sells out of Montana gallery
Paige Weber’s painting Steadfast in Spirit sold on July 31, the opening day of Oil Painters of America National Juried Salon of Small Paintings hosted by Cassens Fine Art in Hamilton, Montana. The piece, an 8-by-16-inch oil featuring four draft horses harnessed together on a summer day, was featured in American Art Collector’s coverage of the OPA exhibition.“The long horizontal format emphasizes the powerful curve of each horse’s neck as they move,” explains the artist. “Only the lead horse’s head is fully visible, suggesting both leadership and the strength that comes from working as a team. By focusing on form and gesture, this composition invites the viewer to experience the team’s collective presence. Light moves across the forms helping direct the eye, while highlighting the strength, precision, and steadfast spirit of these working horses.” —
