Welcome to the November issue of American Art Collector! This month, we celebrate our annual Collector’s Focus dedicated to Small Works and Miniatures, one of my favorite special sections of the year.
Small works are a wonderful way to bring home pieces by favorite artists and add fresh energy to a collection without committing to a large-scale work. They are also incredibly versatile. A small painting can add the perfect finishing touch to an intimate space or become the beginning of an entirely new collection. And with the holidays approaching, original artwork makes an unforgettable and personal gift. The team at American Art Collector (Adolfo, Sarah and myself) all own many small works by our favorite artists, and we know firsthand the fun of having multiple artists represented on your wall, each with a memory of the occasion we bought it. It fills us with the collector spirit that we write about every day.
Beyond our special section on small works, this issue brings together an exciting range of realism. Inside these pages, you’ll find outstanding exhibitions presented by the International Guild of Realism and the American Artists Professional League, two organizations showcasing exceptional representational artists working today.
We will also be attending the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, Maryland, this November, another one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience art in person and connect with artists, galleries and collectors. You can read more about this event on Page 98. There is simply something different about standing in front of a work of art, seeing the brushwork and details firsthand, and speaking to the artist who created it.
