Linda Leslie has known a singular focus to paint and draw her entire life. She was surrounded by artists as a child; her father was an architect, sculptor and painter, and her mother a photographer. Her two sisters, also artists, enveloped her in a world rich with a wide variety of artistic expression.

As an artist who practices daily, Leslie’s paintings convey a relationship to her subjects that is personal and deeply felt. Those connections reinforce a meaningful and meditative process. “I learn more about my thinking from my painting than my actual thinking,” shares Leslie.

Leslie’s inspiration and creative process is introspective and reflects a personal connection to the works she creates. Her work is deeply influenced by art history, material culture and personal relationships with other artists. These influences have played a part in inspiring her newest creative endeavor of opening a gallery in Missoula, Montana, called 725 W. Alder.
“There is a spirit flowing through the collection in 725 W. Alder bringing together distinctive works and creative traditions,” explains Leslie. “Differing histories, ways of making, and distinct cultures spanning eras and continents exist together in conversation. There is an invitation to look, reflect and see differently.” —
