Judith Almasque is a self-taught artist through independent study who feels honored to paint God’s majestic creations in the natural world. Painting oil portraits on linen is a passion for Almasque. She creates a touchable reality in her artwork with light effects, chroma of colors and shadows interplaying that accentuate the subject matter in its environment.

She has received accolades for oil portraits that capture the likeness and beauty of the figure surrounded by light, realism and colors in the environment. Her landscapes and wildlife paintings combine compelling subject matter, colors and perspective. There is often a theme and story behind her paintings. Her choice of subjects is influenced by her experiences traveling to places of exceptional beauty and cultural relevance. She studied the artwork of the Spanish Old Masters in Museo del Prado in Spain when living there with her Spaniard grandfather before immigrating to the United States.

Almasque lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband surrounded by national parks, wildlife, gardens and the rugged Pacific Ocean. “As an oil painter it is very rewarding for me to recreate for the viewer and collector the awe and depth of the subject in the landscape,” she says, adding that she aims to transport the viewer to a place of beauty, peaceful and spiritual in nature. —
