Sugarman-Peterson Gallery sells piece tied to American Art Collector’s coverage of IGOR’s 19th Annual Juried Exhibition

Sugarman-Peterson Gallery hosted the International Guild of Realism’s (IGOR) International Juried Exhibition in June of 2025. After seeing a preview of the exhibition in American Art Collector, a client visited visited Sugarman-Peterson Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to view Max Savaiko’s painting Twins v. Boston Red Sox in person. “While they connected strongly with the original piece, they wanted to personalize the concept around baseball teams that held special meaning for their daughter and her partner,” explains gallery co-owner Christie Sugarman. “Following conversations with Max through the gallery, the experience ultimately led to a commissioned painting. To make the piece even more personal, Max incorporated their names into the ‘Pair of Sox’ lettering at the center of the composition.“

“It was rewarding to see how a collector’s connection to a painting through gallery and magazine exposure evolved into a deeply personal commission,” says Savaiko. "Experiences like this show how art can create meaningful connections and lasting family gifts.”

Sugarman adds, “I believe this experience highlights not only the exposure generated through the magazine feature and gallery exhibition, but also the meaningful collector relationships and commission opportunities that can result.”

Vehicle artist Shannon Fannin sells BMW piece out of Abend Gallery in Denver

Represented by numerous galleries in the U.S., and collected worldwide, artist Shannon Fannin is known for her vibrant depictions of vintage and modern cars, motorcycles, airplanes and bicycles. A recent highlight was the sale of her 1959 Red BMW Isetta 300 through Abend Gallery in Denver. Though primarily known for photorealist, large-scale acrylics, Fannin found this compact Isetta a unique creative challenge. Her ability to capture the soul of mechanical design on any scale continues to drive strong demand for both her gallery works and private commissions. —
