Robert Lange Studios sells 10 works by June Stratton during opening night
June Stratton’s painting The Gift appeared in the March issue of American Art Collector in a preview of the artist’s solo exhibition at Robert Lange Studios in Charleston, South Carolina. The piece is one of nearly a dozen that sold during the show’s opening night. It features a delicate and realistically rendered hand holding white lilies. The lilies themselves are created from real flowers, which the artist has remade into plaster casts, giving the artwork a pronounced three-dimensional texture that emerges from and over the canvas. Gold embellishments accent the flowers and the wrist, while the background contrasts with the softness of the central subject, blending abstract areas of dark blues, fiery oranges, muted reds and smoky patterns. Stratton says, “I enjoy combining beauty with hints of darkness, and my three-dimensional additions reflect my playful approach.”++

Michele Kortbawi Wilk sells one of her sought-after horse paintings at Principle Gallery
Michele Kortbawi Wilk included her painting Heartfelt in a joint exhibition with Christie Younger at Principle Gallery’s Charleston, South Carolina, location, last fall. A gallery client saw the piece in a preview of the show and purchased it. Wilk is a self-taught artist whose lifelong devotion to both art and animals serves as the foundation of her work. “In one of her highly sought after horse portraits, Michele Wilk depicts the unexpected symbiotic connection of a horse and a pair of owls,” says Principle Gallery assistant director Carson Reeder. “She utilizes a mythical visual language that lends itself well to this enchanting narrative.” —Interested in having your SOLD! story featured in the pages of American Art Collector magazine?
