Returning for the 39th edition is the Alliance for the Arts’ All Florida Juried Exhibition, dedicated to showcasing artists that reside in the state of Florida. “It is a celebration of the talent that exists in a state that is mainly thought of as [only] retirees and tourists,” says marketing and development manager, Jennifer Falk.

In addition, artists compete for top prizes and awards in select categories. While artists are juried in only a week prior to the event, Falk shares that in past years, “we’ve showcased an incredible variety of artistic mediums, with nearly every form of creativity represented. Our exhibitions have featured carved wooden pieces, fused glass works, clay sculptures, textiles, poured paintings, detailed drawings, acrylic and watercolor works—just to name a few.”
Falk also adds that one of the most exciting aspects of this exhibition is its ever-evolving nature—no two years are ever the same. “The main requirement is that the artist resides in Florida, allowing for a diverse and unpredictable selection of work,” she says. “Each year features both emerging talents as well as well-known artists, and a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, making each exhibition a unique reflection of the creativity thriving in our state. The beauty of this exhibition lies in its ability to offer a one-of-a-kind experience every year, making each visit truly special.”

This year has two jurors selecting winners, including Barbara Hill, who has more than 30 years of professional experience in executive positions for Florida’s leading cultural institutions; has provided advisory services to emerging, mid-career and established visual artists throughout the United States; and serves as independent curator, juror, grant writer, collections manager and educator. Juror number two is Tim Jaeger, who has maintained a studio in Sarasota, Florida, for over 25 years. He participates in exhibitions across several states and countries, received numerous awards, and is an art instructor as well.
The event begins with an opening reception on March 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. Jurors will also be present to hand out awards. The exhibition of work will hang at Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida, through March 29. —
