Art for the Soul

The 35th edition of Celebration of Fine Art upholds its mission of connectivity through interactive programming and inspiring artwork.

Attracting thousands of visitors from around the world, the annual Celebration of Fine Art,known for its location in Scottsdale, Arizona, under the “big white tent,” brings together established and emerging artists from across the country. This year, the show will see around 100 artists showcasing their talents in a 40,000 square foot space, now in a new location only 200 yards south of its previous one. Attendees will not only find quite a variety of mediums on display, but an extensive range of styles and genres.

“From the very beginning, the mission of Celebration of Fine Art has been to bring artists and art enthusiasts/collectors together in one space in a meaningful way,” says show co-owner and director, Susan Morrow Potje. “Over the years, it has truly become a gathering place and a community where people come to be inspired and connect with others. In a time where real human connection is so needed, it has become a beacon of light where people can discover the stories and the inspiration behind the art and be uplifted. It is a place where one can admire and acquire magnificent works of art that feed the soul.”

Connection is created through the show’s interactive element, that allows for attendees to engage directly with the artists and their process. This includes artist demonstrations as well as the Art Discovery Series. Each Friday, from 4 to 5 p.m., artists discuss specific topics such as sculpture making, metalworking, jewelry, abstract art and so much more. Potje also shares that, “each year, we host an exclusive sneak preview evening for our Inner Circle art collectors, where they have an opportunity to be the first to see the new works of art.

The 2025 showcase includes stunning and inspiring works of art, such as Happy Mum & Baby Owl, a hand carved sculptural work by Gedion Nyanhongo. Born in Zimbabwe, Africa, the artist passionately transforms hard and enduring stone into sculptures that capture all that is good and worth preserving in the world around us, while telling the story of his Zimbabwean heritage and culture. Instead of a focus on the outside world, Nyanhongo delves into important issues that impact the lives of all humanity: love, family, beauty and nature. “I believe sculpture has the capacity to lift people’s spirits in a way that can make their lives better,” says Nyanhongo.

Artist Marilyn Evans, also known through her creative name, Montana Blue Heron, features inspiring basketry creations like Northern Forest. “I’ve enjoyed creating sculptural basketry for 35 years, and I am continuously inspired by texture, color and opportune shapes provided by an antler or a rogue branch. After a four year break, I’m excited to return to the Celebration of Fine Art this year with new and exciting work. I have focused on new concepts in sculpture and form, and will also show new versions of old favorites.”

Also on view, are the brilliant ceramic creations by Myron Whitaker, who has been making large scale ceramic vessels for 20 years. Each of his creations are wheel thrown vessels that contain a unique stone or fossil element from the earth. “No two pieces are alike,” he says. “My work is all about nature, with organic glaze colors I developed myself.” Finishing with a controlled firing process, produces a stunning body of work.
