The National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society will be holding the seventh edition of its Best of America Small Works National Juried Exhibitionfrom July 5 to 31 at Sugarman-Peterson Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The annual event brings together national and international NOAPS members to feature some of their very best paintings in oil and acrylic. True to the name of the show, all of the artwork in the exhibition measures an intimate 320 square inches or less.

In addition to the main exhibition, the NOAPS event also features a Plein Air Paint Out and Competition from July 3 to 4. During this two-day event, artists can draw inspiration from all of the vibrant Fourth of July celebrations happening across the City Different, as well as the stunning scenery of the Santa Fe National Forest, with awards presented to winning plein air artists.

A gallery tour and discussion of the artwork led by Master Artist Hebe Brooks, and Pat Tribastone, NOAPS president, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Sugarman-Peterson Gallery on July 5. The awards presentation will take place that same day at 1 p.m., followed by the opening reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

“Now in our seventh year of producing the Small Works Exhibition, we continue to be excited with the high quality of artwork entered by our members,” says Tribastone. “With the variety of styles and genres, the show will pique the interest of collectors, from contemporary to traditional approaches to the small format. As the viewer browses the show, these small paintings delight the eye with the extent of subject matter, color and descriptive nuance. Our Small Works shows have indeed been an unquestionable success.”

Art lovers and collectors can expect an expansive range of subject matter from NOAPS members, from atmospheric landscapes and nature scenes, to portraiture and figurative works, to wildlife, still lifes and more.
This year’s judging panel consists of esteemed artists Mallory Agerton, Patrick McGannon and Jan Marie De Lipsey.
