As anyone who has been to Santa Fe, New Mexico, knows, every day of the year feels more alive with art and culture than anywhere else in the Southwest, and maybe the country. As if that isn’t enough, each July the City Different takes it up a notch with an official 10-day celebration known as Santa Fe Art Week. Visitors can enjoy more than 100 unique art, culinary and performance experiences, including openings and shows, and live demonstrations taking place citywide at some of Santa Fe’s 250-plus galleries, cultural museums and destinations.

Attendees of Art Santa Fe can expect a wide variety of contemporary art from around the world across more than 85 gallery and artist exhibitors.
One of the highlights and first large-scale events of the week is Art Santa Fe, a three-day contemporary art fair taking place in the heart of historic downtown at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center from Friday, July 12, through Sunday, July 14.
Produced by Redwood Art Group, Art Santa Fe showcases art from around the world with specially curated programming and exhibits, live demonstrations and entertainment. “As one of the opening events for Santa Fe’s Art Week, Art Santa Feprovides the perfect experience for collectors and art enthusiasts alike,” notes a Redwood Art Group representative. “It’s a unique opportunity to honor the region’s deeply rooted cultural traditions while launching into the future with cutting-edge artwork and inspiring events, a perfect combination for these two art-focused Santa Fe events.”

Art Santa Fe will feature more than 85 national and international galleries and independent artists presenting hundreds of diverse, modern works from around the world.
Among the galleries featuring works of contemporary realism are Gallery Edel out of Osaka, Japan. The gallery has been showcasing Japanese and international contemporary art in the United States for more than 20 years, including many of those years at Art Sana Fe.In addition to works by Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, William Steiger, Takeshi Yamato and others, Gallery Edel is highlighting art by Yayoi Kusama, renown for her massive installations, approachable glass sculptures, prints and more.

David Disko is returning to Art Santa Fe this year with his distinct, fluid landscapes and skyscapes. The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based artist approaches his depictions of landforms like a cartographer, architect and camouflage designer in one. After decades working in construction, Disko returned to art-making more than 15 years ago and has been applying his career experience to his love of landscape, geography and nature.
For the past 20 years, Stephen Robeck has worked to refine his skills and vision to bring abstract perspectives to photographs celebrating the natural world. “The abstract forms, colors and textures that abound in nature have always fascinated me, and I love creating photographs whose origins may not be readily clear,” says Robeck, whose portrait of New Mexico’s White Sands National Park is featured here. “My intent is to make photographs that are peaceful and that people want to linger over every day.”

“We are pleased to once again host Art Santa Fe and partner with the city to be part of the Santa Fe Art Week celebration,” says Redwood’s president and CEO Eric Smith. “We’re excited to contribute to the city’s vibrant creative scene and give visitors and collectors an opportunity to experience world-class modern and contemporary art.” —
