Peggie Blizard’s oil painting Goldenrod and Anemones Version III recently sold to a new collector out of George Billis Gallery. The buyer, who lives in Los Angeles, was visiting the East Coast and stopped into George Billis’ Fairfield, Connecticut, location and purchased the painting. Collector buys eighth painting by pastel artist Laura Pollak
In the Beginning was the featured painting in Laura Pollak’s full-page ad in American Art Collector’s annual pastel issue in June. “The painting was sold to a wonderful collector in New York who felt the deep spiritual connection of the piece,” says Pollak. This is the eighth painting to join the private collection of  Pollak’s works. “The collector said that the depth and space drew her ‘in’ giving a sense of wonder,” shares the artist.  “Upon receiving the piece she said, ‘I was thrilled to see such a beautiful piece in person for the first time!’” Pollak paints abstracts and landscapes primarily using pastels. Both genres have been displayed in American Art Collector.

A nostalgic nocturn by Jonathan McPhillips sells out of Cape Cod’s Addison Art Gallery

Our Happiest Times depicts figures circling a bonfire on the beach, evoking the freedom and revelry of summertime. “I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for the recent sale of Our Happiest Times through Addison Art Gallery,” says McPhillips. “As an artist, it is a great honor to know that my work has found a home with a returning collector who appreciates it in its completion as much as I appreciated it in its creation. I am humbled that this painting captures the spirit of the bohemian movement on Cape Cod.”

Derek Penix sells painting featured in a preview of an ongoing show at Vanessa Rothe Fine Art
Derek Penix’s Koi with Lily Pads was created for Triptych, a group show that runs through September  10, at Vanessa Rothe Fine Art in Laguna Beach. The artist is an existing client of the gallery who saw piece on the gallery’s Instagram page as well as in the print issue of American Art Collector. The buyer, who lives in New York, purchased the piece over the phone. “The collector said he thought it was a unique, special piece with the depth below the koi fish and the added green of the lily pads,” says Rothe. In a note, he thanked Rothe, letting her know the painting had arrived and “it’s even more spectacular in person!” —
