Reno Tahoe International Art Show | 9/14-9/17 | Reno, NV

Elegant yet Approachable

The second edition of the RTIA Show presents even more art to explore and expanded special programming.

After a successful turn out for the inaugural Reno Tahoe International Art Showin 2022, the event returns for another upstanding showcase hosted at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. While show founders Kevin O’Keefe and Briana Dolan continue to uphold a spectacular line-up of artist and gallery presentations, they have expanded their footprint this year to include even more displays and have added to the show's special programming.

RTIA Show attendees browse at last year’s inaugural event.

“The intent is the same as it was from the beginning,” says Dolan, chief operating officer. “Our goal is to be able to anchor a fine art show in Reno to change the way the Reno/Tahoe area is viewed.” O’Keefe, CEO, adds, “We’re looking to make the [region] a nationally recognized center for arts and culture. We want to create a dynamic event that includes sculpture, artists, music and film so that it’s approachable and fun, while also being elegant in an area most artists don’t always go.”

The show is broken down into several exciting sections including the Independent Artists category, which will feature around 70 participating artists, and 34 galleries and studios in the contemporary genre. Newly expanded and taking center stage is the First Nations Indigenous Peoples Pavilion, featuring 20 First Nation artists. “We feel the First Nations presentation is one of the more important growing pieces of the RTIA Show,” says O’Keefe. “The unfortunate truth is that First Nations art is a diminishing national treasure. It is our privilege to showcase such beautiful art while celebrating the vibrant people and cultures that have shaped our nation.”

The Art City Invitationals category invites “galleries, studios and sculptors from nationally recognized art-rich cities to present together as unique city pavilions…,” says Dolan. “The RTIA Show will also feature museum quality exhibitions from prominent West Coast galleries, including Winn Slavin of Beverly Hills, along with a notable Bespoke Furniture presentation highlighting exceptional design from Reno Tahoe furniture makers.”

The festivities continue with the return of the show’s partnership with the Reno-based Cordillera International Film Festival, while adding in the Asian World Film Festival. Both short- and feature-length films will be presented, and will be accompanied by panel discussions and artist talks.

Yet another dynamic category at the show is the National Sculpture Society “pairing world class sculpture with a collection of rare automobiles,” explain Dolan and O’Keefe. Also part of the Sculpture Walk, located both inside and outside the convention center, are select sculptural presentations from the renowned Burning Man annual art and community event.

The RTIA Showwill kick off with the VIP Preview party Thursday, September 14, with the public show dates beginning Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17. A special Awards Gala will be held Saturday, September 16, also hosted at the convention center, where audience members can vote for Best of Show in different arts categories. Attendees will enjoy live performances by regional musicians, along with food, craft beer and fine wines.

“We want to have a good time and sell a lot of art!" says Dolan. “We are confident that this year’s show will leave a lasting impact on both the local community and art enthusiasts nationwide.”
