Abstract Visions
The abstract visions of artist Audra Weaser will be on view at JoAnne Artman Gallery in Laguna Beach, California, starting this summer. Utilizing a minimalist color palette, “Weaser’s process-based paintings are excavations of memories shaped by time. Working tirelessly, Weaser has to put down layers of color quickly before the quick-drying paint becomes permanently fixed on the panels. In this way she builds up fluid layers intuitively placing large swathes of color while working the entirety of the surface,” the gallery notes. ABSTRACT VISIONS: FEATURING AUDRA WEASER will be on view August 1 through September 30.

Isamu Noguchi Award 10th Anniversary
The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum—the first museum in the United States to be established, designed and installed by a living artist to show their own work—is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Isamu Noguchi Award. Acknowledging artists who share Noguchi’s imaginative spirit and sense of innovation, the annual Isamu Noguchi Award illuminates the impact Noguchi has made on contemporary art as one of the 20th century’s most important sculptors. The 2023 award will be presented to artists Edmund de Waal, Theaster Gates and Hanya Yanagihara at the museum’s Annual Benefit on September 12.

Floating Artwork
A monumental work of art titled Current, by internationally recognized sculptor Janet Echelman, was recently unveiled to the public this June. A marvel of engineering and artistry, Current has transformed the skyline of Columbus, Ohio, floating more than 100 feet in the air above a major downtown intersection. Developer and philanthropist Jeff Edwards funded the project and donated the work to the Columbus Museum of Art, which will oversee care and maintenance of the sculpture as part of its permanent collection. Echelman is known for creating large-scale sculptures that bridge the worlds of art, architecture, design and engineering. —
