Unlike the Western art world, works of contemporary realism by living artists are less typically sold in an auction format. So when the opportunity for collectors of the genre to have some fun with bidding presents itself, it’s a good idea to take it. The American Artists Professional League’s (AAPL) Summer Studio Auction, an online sale that runs from July 15 to July 25, is one of these unique opportunities—a chance for collectors to bid on exquisite realist works of art from the comfort of their own homes.

The auction will feature a carefully curated selection of an estimated 100 works of representational fine art, including paintings, sculptures and drawings. Each piece has been curated from AAPL members' studios and bidders will purchase the art directly from the artist, adding a personal touch to the auction experience.

The auction will be conducted via Bidsquare, a reputable online auction platform, and is open to buyers from around the world, making it a truly global event. Interested buyers will be able to register and place bids online, with a minimum starting bid set for each piece. At the end of the auction, successful bidders will be notified and provided with payment and shipping details.

“We’re so happy that our organization is providing more opportunities to our 500-plus members to exhibit and sell their work,” says AAPL president Aki Kano. “AAPL has taken on many new initiatives over the last few years and we’re excited to organize this sale for the third consecutive year.” —
