With more than 100 galleries, boutiques and restaurants along one half-mile of historic Canyon Road, it’s no wonder that it is one of the most vibrant arts districts in Santa Fe. But it also continues to thrive because the galleries make a collective effort to keep its artistic legacy alive.
Taos painter Ed Sandoval is a regular participant in the events hosted by the galleries of Canyon Road.Six times a year the galleries join together to host lively art events that offer the public opportunities to watch artists work, talk to them about their process and interact with them in a meaningful way. Visitors can stroll down Canyon Road watching the display and stop into the dozens of galleries along the way.
The 2023 events kick off on May 13 with the 10th annual Spring Arts Festival, which showcases the talents of dozens of artists working in mediums including watercolor, ceramics, pastel, oil, acrylic, metal-leafing, photography, glass art, sculpting, jewelry-making and many more.

Participating gallery Globe Fine Art, found at the top of Canyon Road, features painters alongside glass and steel sculptures.
This year’s participating galleries include Ahmyo River Gallery, Art Moziak, Aurelia Gallery, Canyon Road Contemporary Art, Clearlight Jewelry, Dominique Boisjoli Fine Art, Globe Fine Art, Horndeski Contemporary, Intrigue Gallery, Karina On Canyon, Prescott Gallery, Susan Eddings Pérez Gallery and Underwood Gallery.

Dozens of artists gather along Canyon Road and in gallery courtyards to give demonstrations and chat with passers-by.
“Everyone attending will have the opportunity to see a vast variety of art,” says Nancy Ouimet, president of the Canyon Road Merchants Association and owner of Canyon Road Contemporary Art. “Artists will be on-hand to share their process and inspiration that has made them some of the top artists in the world.” —
