The LA Art Show returns for its 28th edition, featuring a visual feast of modern and contemporary works in a wide range of subject matter and mediums. Hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the show will combine a diverse variety of exhibitors from around the world, domestic and international, including Europe, Japan, South Korea and Latin America, to name just a few. “Diversity is our strength and art is most impactful when it includes or transcends all borders,” say show representatives.

The show will be broken down into several sections, with the largest being the Modern + Contemporary distinction. A thrilling mix of contemporary painting, sculpture and illustration will be displayed, along with so much more. Exhibitors include Abend Gallery, based in Denver, Colorado; Arcadia Contemporary and Fremin Gallery from New York, New York; Markowicz Fine Art in Laguna Niguel, California; and of course, regional galleries like Simard Bilodeau Contemporary in Los Angeles, California.Other significant sections include the European Pavilion, “dedicated to European galleries from Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Denmark,” describes show reps. Patrons will also be privy to the first showing of the Japanese Pavilion, introducing more than 10 galleries from Japan, along with the Contemporary Digital Art section, where the LA Art Show “will continue to introduce attendees to the incredible trend in digital art, showcasing more eye-catching art trends.”

LA Art Show director and producer, Kassandra Voyagis, explains, “The popular program, which began in 2015 and is curated by Marisa Caichiolo, connects important local and international art institutions to generate thoughtful dialogue through art while honoring the unique biodiversity of Los Angeles.”
Voyagis notes that the show will expand on on last year’s environmental focus, with this year’s edition featuring “eight participating interdisciplinary projects from video installations and immersive experiences to augmented reality and community-oriented projects, which examine not just how the environment is represented in art but how humanity’s place in the world is depicted.”

Caichiolo shares, “Humans are changing the Earth’s natural systems in rapid and unprecedented ways. This has propelled our planet into a new geologic era—the Anthropocene. Contextualizing the issues through immersive experiences and installations seeks to deepen our understanding and inspire solutions.”
Participating institutions in the programming include the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA), based in Washington, D.C., which will feature the conceptual work of Mexico photographer Alfredo De Stefano. “Often employing ice, fire and light, De Stefano creates enigmatic installations with both natural and man-made objects in an ethereal desert setting,” Voyagis remarks.
