Artist sells piece featured in story about Celebration of Fine Art
January brings Celebration of Fine Art back to Scottsdale, Arizona, and with it, 100 artists who display their work and create on-site over the 10-week event. Artist Leah Kiser is participating in the event again this year after experiencing success with her sale of Hooker’s Dream, which was featured in American Art Collector’s preview of last year’s Celebration of Fine Art.

The buyer, a subscriber in Ohio, did not attend the event but saw Kiser’s piece in the magazine and reached out to her directly. “Love your work!…The style, themes, composition, use of color,” the buyer wrote in an email. “I was pumped to see something this fresh and awesome in American Art Collector. I’d be honored to have it join my collection.”

The surreal painting is centered around a fish made of lace. “I am always playing with new ideas,” says Kiser, who was exploring the idea of making animals out of alluring textures and accessories. “I found that I really enjoyed the challenge of creating the transparency of lace and creating implied shapes with the use of pattern and value.

“This was a very fun and challenging painting to put together,” she continues. “It took several months to put it all together, and I was very glad to have connected with someone through your magazine who recognized the painting’s value.”

Arizona artist continues to expand his collector following
Artist Bryson Bost has seen a boost in interest in his work after being featured in American Art Collector in July 2021. Since that time he has sold numerous works, is now represented by multiple galleries and his collector base continues to grow.

California collectors Cam and Stacey Boyd recently purchased a second piece by Bost. “We have always been huge fans of Bryson’s work, hosting his Ganymede in our home for several years now,” they share. “Over the past decade we have greatly enjoyed witnessing the evolution of his newer pieces, increasingly incorporating free-spirited colors and textures while remaining true to his roots of highly technical and detailed patterning. When we recently completed construction of our new home and realized we had the wall space to add another substantial piece to our collection, there was no question that we were going to put a Bost there.

We have long salivated over Arriving Sunset as the warm tones complement our interior design motif, and the sub-Saharan flavor offers a nostalgic reminder of some of our favorite travel experiences. When we learned it was still on the market, we moved quickly to make it the newest addition to our collection.”  —
