A Visual Journey

Take a journey around the world at Le Voyage, an exhibition of works inspired by travel opening soon at Vanessa Rothe Fine Art

Le Voyage, a group show at Vanessa Rothe Fine Art gallery, will feature artwork inspired by travel. Through oil paintings and watercolors, 30 international artists will transport viewers to picturesque locales like the French Riviera, the Tuscan countryside and the Swiss Alps, as well as popular destinations in the U.S. Danil Volkov, Venice Canal, oil, 20 x 16"

“It has been said that ‘travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer,'” says gallery owner and artist Vanessa Rothe. “This could not be more true for all of us that travel and especially for creative writers, photographers, and artists who glean so much from their surroundings.”

One of the show’s featured artists, Nicolas Martin, was born and raised in France and feels fortunate to have had several countries within a short distance from his home in Paris.

“Traveling opens the mind and allows me to better understand life itself,” he says. “Everything I experience during a trip influences me, the people, the architecture, the light. I can evolve faster and in unexpected directions.” His piece in the show depicts a trip to Venice, Italy. “Every street, every corner of this city is iconic…the architecture, light, perspective. That’s what I love about Venice, everything is magnificent from every point of view.Emiliano Marini, Reflections, oil, 9 x 12"

Suchitra Bhosle’s piece for the show was inspired by trips back to India and a desire to showcase the colorful country and its people. It depicts women laboring in the harsh thorny fields of cotton plantations, who display immense happiness in their faces despite the hard work. "When I visit new places, the freshness of visuals that I see for the first time, the virginity of its designs spark inspiration like nothing else,” she says. “The people, the experiences, the smells and sounds subconsciously enter the work of art, in a way that looking at a photograph never could.” Kyle Stuckey, La Maison Rose, oil, 20 x 16"“The numerous benefits of travel have long been celebrated, adding interesting life challenges and discovery for the fine artist, bringing new exciting subjects,” says Rothe. “Travelers discover new scenes, food and culture and they also often gain a new perspective. This can truly enrich the work of an artist, to create a new style or perhaps discover a new color that inspires a whole new series.” Jesse Powell, Big Sur with Poppies, oil, 16 x 12"Let Le Voyage take you on a journey through art inspired by a backpacking trip in the wild and painting plein air in the warm Tuscan landscape. Take in the sights of colorful boats on the blue seas of the French Cote d’Azur, the deserts of the American Southwest, sunny California seascapes, the streets of Paris, France, and many other unforgettable places created by the artists in this show.

“Travel really is an investment in yourself,” adds Rothe. “These works will allow collectors to continue enjoying these grand memories at home.” —
