Painter Shannon “Shan” Fannin makes sale at the International Guild of Realism Annual Exhibition
Realist vehicle painter sold her piece 1990 Ferrari Testarossa through the International Guild of Realism 16th Annual Exhibition held in July at the McBride Gallery in Annapolis, Maryland. According to gallery owner, Cynthia McBride, the collectors were a young couple that came to the gallery to see the show. They came back a few days later and focused on Fannin’s Ferrari Testarossa painting. After 30 minutes sitting before it, they decided to buy it. The husband, who works in Saudi Arabia, is having the painting shipped overseas where it will hang over the fireplace. “I so enjoyed this young couple and seeing them find a way to buy a painting they love,” says McBride. Fannin, whose work is featured inside this issue’s Collector’s Focus: Automotive Art, adds, “Nothing brings me greater joy than when my vehicle paintings connect personally with a collector. I’m so happy my Testarossa found a forever home.”

Portrait artist Roopa Dudley sells work featured in recent issue of American Art Collector
In late July, a subscriber to American Art Collector who resides in Davis, California, saw Roopa Dudley’s Poe-Trait in the magazine and contacted the artist to see if it was still available. The painting, pictured here, appeared in American Art Collector’s special portrait issue and is one of Dudley’s most lucrative sales to date. According to Dudley, the buyer did not know it was a portrait of the poet Edgar Allan Poe but “she loved it so much that she had to have it.” Dudley says the same painting was also selected to be a contestant in the Edgar Allan Poe Festival & Awards. The winner will be announced at The Black Cat Ball on October 8 in Baltimore, Maryland. Poe-Trait received the additional honor being chosen for the cover of the poetry journal, Whimsical Poet. —
