Collector Buys Two Paintings From an Artist Discovered in These Pages
Immediately after being featured in the February ‘22 issue of American Art Collector, Hope Reis sold two paintings, one of which, The Harpist, appeared in the magazine. An eager buyer and American Art Collector subscriber out of Salt Lake City loved The Harpist so much, he decided to buy another of Reis’ work on the spot from the Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. “This particular collector was in the process of a renovation and wanted the painting for his wife who was having a birthday, and had recently asked him to get her harp out of the closet,” explains Reis. When Reis asked him how he found her painting, this was his response: “It was the full page ad in American Art Collector. When I looked you up online I saw Listening and I loved that one too. I noticed it was through a gallery [that listed] no price, and 'a please contact us' [for additional information]…Well, I was in touch with you before them…I was worried that The Harpist would sell if I didn’t act right away.”

Reis sent him the gallery information and after a few phone calls, the sale was finalized and arrangements were made to have both paintings shipped to him. Reis adds, “He is a gem of a person and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to put those paintings in the February ‘22 issue!”

Vermont Painter Andrew Orr Enjoys a Winning Week at Rehs Galleries
Rehs Galleries had some good news to share as well when three of painter Andrew Orr’s pieces sold in a single week. (Orr appeared in i in September 2021).

“We recently started working with Andrew, and it has been such a wonderful experience,” says gallery director Alyssa Rehs. “Not only is he the consummate professional, but the quality of his works is top-notch. It is always an exciting day at the gallery to receive a box from Vermont. The only ‘problem’ is that we can’t hold onto the paintings—they go as quick as they come!” —
