David Kizziar finds inspiration from coast to coast as can be seen in his drawings Boardwalk and Portland Head. Struck by the stature of his first lighthouse, he was captured by the scenic beauty of the Maine coastline as the waves crashed over a massive rock formation, the wind moved across the sparkling water and carried the salt air. Kizziar also captured the beauty of the beachfront park in the heart of downtown Laguna Beach. The pencil drawing was created using six colored pencils on toned paper and took more than 300 hundred hours to complete.David Kizziar, Portland Head, ink, 17½ x 11½"; Kim VanDerHoek, Away We Go, oil on panel, 12 x 9"

Kizziar’s style demonstrates his renewed passion for art on his quest to create captivating drawings in colored pencil, graphite or ink. He defines his style as “one that evokes feelings and thoughts” and strives to have his art emit a mood that reflects life’s camera so viewers can feel the essence of his pieces.

Landscape photographer Lynn Beeler casts a thoughtful lens on artistic expression built upon central themes tied to a specific location and place. “My art photography focus is on the natural world, be it a traditional or interpretive landscape, a flower’s delicate moment or blending nature with the fragmentary passages of the human experience,” says Beeler. “I use my camera to capture nature’s light, form and movement, and then with the alchemy of pixels and software, I bring a subjective narrative to the completed work. This is ‘photography beyond the lens,’ wherein I transform the image in my mind’s eye into what I feel in my heart.” Lynn Beeler, Sympathy and Love, photograph, 19 x 28½"; Terry Houseworth, Fenced In, oil on panel with canvas, 12 x16"

Painter Terry Houseworth’s current work is part of a concept she began exploring a few years ago. “I call it Crop Series, and the only criteria is that each painting has a frame(s) in a frame,” explains the artist. “The internal windows contain the focal point and the most realistic treatment with more detail. All other areas are abstracted in some way.Lynn Beeler, Silent Echo, photograph, 19 x 28½"

"By working this way I hope to achieve a feeling of depth while combining realism and abstraction together. I’m pulling from my graphic design, drawing, plein air and realism experience for this project.” The artist is looking forward to experimenting with a variety of sizes, formats and textures within her loose boundaries.Kim VanDerHoek, On Cloud Nine, oil on panel, 24 x 24"; Lynn Beeler, Whisper Rose, photograph, 18½ x 21"

A commercial flight from Wisconsin to California inspired a series of Kim VanDerHoek’s aerial paintings. “By capturing big puffy clouds over verdant farmland or the rhythm of bustling cities, I’m able to take the viewer on a journey with me above our beautiful nation,” VanDerHoek says. “In this series I strive to capture a sense of adventure, hope and community.” —
