August 2021 Edition

Art Show / Fair Previews

A Return to Colorado

Thirty leading art dealers will participate in a pop-up edition of Intersect Aspen.

This summer the Aspen, Colorado, art scene will be in full swing with the return of the famed Intersect Aspen art fair. This year’s edition will be a pop-up show with 30 elite exhibitors setting up space at its usual venue, the Aspen Ice Garden. The event will happen August 1 through 5, kicking off on opening day with a VIP Brunch at 10 a.m. instead of a large preview party. Following, at 11 a.m., is an opening reception for the public. These previews allow for the first looks at the show, where collectors can view and purchase art from the dealers that were invited to participate in this special edition of the fair.Marc Dennis, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (The Transfiguration of Snow White), oil on linen, 56 x 74". “As our first in-person event since the pandemic, the curated selection of galleries highlights a thoughtful mix of established and younger galleries from around the country showcasing art, design and photography,” says Becca Hoffman, managing director of Intersect Art and Design, which produces the event.April Gornik, Light Wheel, oil on linen, 80 x 62". Several of the exhibitors have curated their booths to highlight specific artwork. There will be a solo presentation for landscape artist April Gornik at Miles McEnery Gallery; Linda Lopez ceramics and Caroline Larson still lifes on display at Mindy Solomon Gallery; and Nancy Hoffmann Gallery will show WILDflowers with paintings, drawings, watercolors, photographs and more around the wildflower theme. Other dealers to check out include Berry Campbell Gallery, Erin Cluley Gallery, Greg Kucera Gallery, Half Gallery, Jackson Fine Art, Nancy Littlejohn Fine Art and Voltz Clarke Gallery, among others.John Currin, Girl in Bed, watercolor on paper, 13 x 155/8". Intersect Aspen, of which American Art Collector is a proud media sponsor, will be open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will also be presented on Artsy.net from August 1 to 19, so collectors who are unable to attend in person can experience the show and purchase art virtually. —
