Paul Gervais, Portrait of Michael Joseph, oil on linen, 14 x 11". Courtesy the artist. Photo by Jacek Gancarz.Faces and Forms
West Palm Beach, Florida, and London-based artist Paul Gervais presents a series of small-scale portraits of himself, his family and friends. Many are cropped in such a way that the head occupies the entire space, drawing our attention to the expressions and emotions of the faces Gervais depicts. The sequences of painting combinations in the exhibition make poetic connections between intimate faces and abstract forms. Faces and Forms will be on view at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida, from January 26 through May 30.

In Nature
Los Angeles-based artist Sarah Cain has created a site-responsive exhibition for the Momentary, a satellite location for the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Sarah Cain: In Nature, on view February 13 through May 30, features Cain’s vibrant, rainbow installations, functional floor paintings, sculpture, works on canvas and more. The show is connected directly to the Momentary space itself: While visiting Bentonville, the artist was inspired by the raw state of the former factory building the Momentary occupies, moving her to create an exhibition that allows visitors to discover the space anew. —
