Collector's Focus: Impressionism

While the Impressionist movement emerged in 19th century France—with Mary Cassatt as its only American member—artists to this day continue to apply its fundamental principles to contemporary artworks. As the name suggests, the goal was—and is—to capture the impression of a scene, with an emphasis on the transient effects of natural light, a vibrant palette, and loose, dynamic brushwork. If you work in an impressionist style or own a gallery that represents artists who do, don’t miss the opportunity to be part of our 2nd annual Collector’s Focus: Impressionism, a special section dedicated to the art of impressionism.
